In the most simplest terms, Contouring enhances the structure of the face. Contouring is when you'd like to define or reshape like (nose, forehead, chin and cheekbones). You can use a matte (not shimmery) powder, liquid, cream, or stick product that's a few shades darker than your skin tone to shade areas. Highlighting is meant to bring forth certain featured areas that are typically highlighted are the tops of the cheekbones, bridge of the nose, Cupid's bow and potentially center of forehead and chin. Highlighting technique can help to create a slimmer nose, higher looking cheek bones or plumper lips, can combat an overly flat or matte finish of a foundation.

Choose the Shade Correctly To Contouring & Highlighting:

Pick the Contour and Highlight Shade Correctly: Don’t choose Shade that are drastically lighter or darker than your natural skin tone. If you have 

• Fair Skin apply a very light shade to highlight and a medium shade to contour.
• Darker Skin apply a medium-toned highlight and to contour slightly deeper than your skin color.
• Very Dark Skin can apply a dark eye shadow will do the trick, if can’t find a deeper shade of foundation to contour.

How to do Contouring & Highlighting Step by Step?

Step 1

After cleansing, Toning and moisturizing your face, apply your foundation all over the face and neck, using a foundation brush or Beauty Blender.

Step 2

Pick very lighter shade concealer or foundation (as mentioned above according to your skin tone shade) and a concealer brush.

Step 3

Using a concealer brush apply the concealer or foundation to your T-zone ( above your eyebrows and the spot between them, Nose bone, down the center of your nose; the middle of your upper lip and the middle of your chin), your under-eye area, and right above your cheekbones. Paint a thin line with this highlighting mixture right above your jawline.

Step 4

To Contour the face, Choose the medium darker shade. Now goes on the sides of your nose, right under your cheekbones, and around your hairline. Blend it like you did with highlighting.

Use a brush or sponge to blend your makeup until there is no harsh line of demarcation between the highlighter and concealer. You want this to look seamless.

Apply pressed or loose finishing powder to your whole face to get rid of any excess shine and set your makeup.

Add blush to your cheeks, moving upward from the apples to your temples, which are the pinkest parts and shimmer hightligher or illuminator right above the blush. This will add dimension to your face and give you a pretty glow.

• Under the eyes-area and on the chin.

Round Face

• Use a darker powder on the jawlines to make the face look slimmer.

Square Face

• A square face looks best with highlighter on the Forehead and chin.
• Add a darker powder to both sides of the forehead and from jawlines to below the ears to give the face a softer look.

Heart Face

• Apply a darker powder at the corners of the forehead and cheeks to make them look narrower.
• A dab of darker powder right at the tip of the chin will help it appear less pointed.
